Police in Hamilton find a missing three-year-old child dead in a conservation area

Police in Hamilton say a three-year-old girl has been found dead after she went missing in a conservation area south of Hamilton.

Police were alerted at around 6.20pm on Saturday that Zahra Usman was missing in the Binbrook Conservation Area. The child was found at 7:50 p.m. and later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Police said Usman visited Binbrook with a large group before her family realized she was missing. Family members searched the area before contacting police. The girl was found in the water by kayakers.

Police say they do not believe her death to be suspicious and are urging witnesses or anyone with relevant video to call 905-546-3843.
