Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik launches SAACAR

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today launched SAACAR – the portal for ‘One Stop Abuse Compensation Assistance for Application and Relief’ in Bhubaneshwar.

Launching the portal on a virtual platform, the Prime Minister said the portal would help in faster investigation and speedy payment of benefits. He said, “This portal will facilitate faster investigation and payment of first-phase compensation to victims in SC-ST atrocity cases within a period of 21 days.”

He said the Online SAACAR portal would be able to avoid the delay caused by the existing manual system for inquiring and disbursing compensation to victims. My government is committed to the welfare of the SC-ST community and this new portal will bring immense relief to the victims of atrocities belonging to the SC-ST community, he added.

He thanked Ministry of Home Affairs, Department of ST & SC Development and Department of Revenue and Disaster Management for developing this portal. This portal will increase the efficiency of Odisha government’s delivery mechanism through the 5T initiative, he added.

Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Pramila Malik, ST-SC Development Department Minister Jagannath Saraka and Minister of State for Home Tusharkanti Behera, who were present at the programme, outlined the Chief Minister’s vision for development and welfare of ST-SC communities. This is another step to ensure speedier justice and relief to these communities, they added.

Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra, Director General Sunil Bsansal and other senior officials were present.

Secretary to CM (5T) VK Pandian moderated the programme.
