Hassan (Karnataka): Nine people, including four children, died in a road accident near Gandhinagar village in Karnataka’s Hassan district.
The accident happened late on Saturday evening.
According to the police, the deceased were traveling in Tempo Traveler and were returning from Dharmasthala pilgrim centre.
The accident took place on National Highway 69. The speeder was traveling behind the KSRTC bus. On observing a milk tanker coming suddenly in one direction, the Tempo Traveler driver tried to take the vehicle to the left and collided with the bus. Then the tanker plowed into the speeder from behind.
Authorities said the accident occurred due to a lack of a sign in one direction of the intersection. Passengers in the KSRC bus were also injured. The tanker driver fled the scene. The Banswara police have taken over the investigation.
The deceased have been identified as Leelavathy (50), Chaitra (33), Samartha (10), Dimpi (12), Tanmay (10), Dhruva (2), Vandana (20), Doddaiah (60) and Bharathi (50). .
Police said 14 people were traveling in the Tempo Traveler. The injured were taken to the regional hospital in Hassan.
