Nicki Minaj is on the Grammy Ballot in the Rap Category — Not for ‘Super Freaky Girl’
Nicki Minajof’s “Super Freaky Girl” was moved from the Grammy early vote to the rap and pop category led to an almost international phenomenon, given the hype and controversy that ensued at the start of the polls this week. It is certainly the result of the most visible hip-hop feud of the year, in which a war of words between Minaj and Lacto, whose “Big Energy” remained in contention for rap and failed to bounce for pop.
But in the midst of all this is lost – or at least not reported so far – is the fact that Minaju EastIn fact, in the ballot in the rap categories this year … not for “Super Freaky Girl”.

The Grammy’s rap scouting committee apparently split the difference, considering it a true hip song and “Super Freaky Girl” being more pop in nature.

Minaj has already been awarded for this: the video “Problem” won the trophy for best hip-hop video at the MTV Video Music Awards in August.
