Naveen to voters ahead of bypoll

Bhubaneswar: Seeking mandate of local voters for BJD-fielded MLA candidate to Dhamnagar Assembly constituency Abanti Das, the party supremo Naveen Patnaik today assured them that he will take the process of ‘development’ in the region to new heights.

In his electioneering speech delivered in virtual mode here, Patnaik said, “You all know that Biju Janata Dal has always been with you in the hours of need. The party has worked for the welfare of people from all sections in the Assembly segment.”

Dhamnagar is a land of peace-loving and harmonious people with a sense of goodwill. BJD has been striving for safeguarding this iconic identity of these people, which is their greatest strength. I am immensely happy that the benefits of Odisha government’s welfare programmes like KALIA, Mission Shakti and Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY) have reached the locals, he expressed.

“Women folks are being empowered and Mission Shakti has become their new identity. Achievements of the women residents in Dhamnagar have made me happy indeed. Hence, both you and I wish to see a woman as your legislator representing the Assembly segment. Women are capable enough to neatly discharge their duties,” the party supremo further said.

“I am indebted to the people of Dhamnagar for the massive support extended to BJD and the Sankha (conch) symbol during the last panchayat and ULB polls. The elections of past days witnessed a change and you reposed your faith in the party in 2022 polls as compared to the 2019 elections,” Patnaik stated.

Notably, all the six Zilla Parishad seats in Dhamnagar went to BJD. Chairperson posts including the deputies in nine out of eleven wards under this Notified Area Council were grabbed by the party.

“I am hopeful that the support will continue to be with BJD and give us the opportunity to serve, thereby furthering the process of development. Only 18 months are left until the upcoming 2024 General Elections and we together can achieve nearly five-year’s development during this short span of time. Development of Dhamnagar is my responsibility,” Patnaik appealed to the voters.

It is pertinent to mention, the date of polling for the Assembly seat is November 3.
