Verdict of the film
Maja Ma begins slowly by establishing each character making us understand the world around them. Although this film plot is much older, the treatment and storytelling make this film interesting to partially watch. The movie has some good scenes that will grab attention and also make the audience weary with a few other unnecessary and dramatic scenes. Few funny dialogue and funny situations that arise during the flow of the story are sure to make us laugh, but the emotional scenes in this film didn’t work well and make us feel bored with the type of writing.
While it comes to acting, Madhuri Dixit looks as glamorous as ever and has performed decently in the role of Pallavi. Gajaraj Rao is the show stealer in this film, his way of playing the dialogue, his comic timing, and his portrayal of him in emotional scenes are top notch. It would be great if the Hindi film industry launched it in more films. Ritwik Bhowmik as Madhuri’s son looks good on screen and his performance is decent. Srishti Shrivastava is an actress who can make any role believable with her portrayal of her, just like she did in this film. Ninad Kamat, Rajit Kapur, Barkha Singh and all the other actors did their part as required for the story.
Technically Maja Ma looks fine. The music composed by Souumil & Siddharth, Gourov Dasgupta, Anurag Sharma is good, she will make you tap your feet with the rhythms. The soundtrack of the film is also suitable for the genre. The photography handled by Debojeet Ray was good with some colorful frames with color settings throughout the film. Production values are good.
Director Anand Tiwari tried to provide a healthy family entertainer with “Maja Ma”. While a few scenes worked very well, overall the film looks a bit underwhelming with some old creations and scripts.
Overall, Maja Ma is a neat family entertainer who can be watched with your family in Navaratri.
