LIVE transfer news: United close to Casemiro and Aubameyang

Thomas Tuchel on Chelsea transfers

Chelsea remain confident as they continue to target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Wesley Fofana and Anthony Gordon and Thomas Tuchel has confirmed the club are still on the lookout for new signings.

“We work together for reinforcements, but it’s never easy. We can’t just wish for something and have it happen. As long as the transfer window is open, there are always options. The focus is on what we have, not what we could have.

“I believe we can compete with this group, but it’s one thing to compete once a week and another to compete 60 times a year, three times a week. You need a strong group.

“We are still active in the market and know what is possible. We are looking for high quality and individuality that suits our group and team.”

Eric ten Haag on Ronaldo latest

The Manchester United manager was also asked about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future following the club’s defeat by Brentford and the forward’s attitude towards the end of the game.

Ten Hag: “I don’t know why he is particularly focused after Saturday. It was the performance of the team, the attitude of the whole team, including Ronaldo. He’s in our plans, that’s all I can say.”

Erik ten Hag on the transfer of Casemiro

Erik ten Hag has remained tight-lipped about the impending signing of Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro ahead of his side’s game against Liverpool on Monday night.

If Casemiro is signed before the game, he will not be able to be registered in time as the deadline was 12:00 this afternoon.

Manchester United are considering a loan move for Christian Pulisic from Chelsea

Manchester United are considering a potential loan move for Christian Pulisic as the Chelsea winger looks to earn more regular game time away from Stamford Bridge, writes Mark Critchley.

The 23-year-old made just 13 league starts under Thomas Tuchel last season and appeared as a substitute in each of Chelsea’s first games of the new campaign.

Pulisic has attracted interest from Newcastle United, Juventus, AC Milan and Atletico Madrid as he looks for regular minutes before playing for the United States at the World Cup this winter.

Cristiano Ronaldo has offered Manchester United to leave Sporting

Sporting have offered Manchester United and Cristiano Ronaldo the option to take their former prodigy on a free transfer, at least clearing the way for one of the most contentious sagas of the summer, reports Miguel Delaney.

The Portuguese made clear his desire to leave the club amid a disastrous summer on and off the pitch, culminating in Saturday’s 4-0 defeat by Brentford.

Ronaldo’s behavior in that game was part of the discussions United’s staff had afterwards as they tried to work out how to get the team back on form.

There is a growing debate at the club over whether it would be better to get rid of the megastar, although the hierarchy have so far been completely resistant.

Leicester begin contract negotiations with Maddison

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers has said his club have opened talks with James Maddison over a new contract.

The 25-year-old playmaker has two years left on his current deal but attracted interest from Newcastle United this summer, who failed to land him in a £40m bid.

Maddison is one of the Foxes’ star players and the club are keen to avoid him entering the final year of his contract next summer.

Mikel Arteta on Bukayo Saka’s future

Mikel Arteta is confident Bukayo Saka will soon sign a new Arsenal contract, while offering an update on Nicolas Pepe’s future:

“I’m very confident that we and the Bucayo camp are on the same page – now we have to put it on paper,” Arteta said. “I would like that to happen because I don’t want the players to be distracted during the season. But these things take time.

And for Pepe: “What we can communicate, we always do when the time is right. We discussed that we have a big squad and we made some decisions and allowed some players to leave. Until the end of the window, anything is possible with any player.”

Real Madrid will not sign a replacement for Casemiro – Ancelotti

Meanwhile, Carlo Ancelotti says Real Madrid will not sign a replacement for Casemiro when he leaves the club to join Manchester United.

“We signed Aurelien Chuameni and he is one of the best on the market,” Ancelotti said. “Then we have Toni Kroos and Eduardo Kamavinga. My plans will not change.”

Chelsea have completed the transfer of Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan

Chelsea have signed Cesare Casadei from Inter Milan on a six-year deal.

The 19-year-old midfielder, who is expected to cost around £12m, will feature in the club’s under-21 squad, a statement confirmed.

The signing of the Italy youth international fits a similar profile to that of Carni Chucumeka, as Chelsea target promising players as well as big names.

“Cesare is a player we have been following for some time and we are delighted that he has now agreed to join Chelsea where he will initially strengthen our under-21 team,” said Chelsea’s head of youth development Neil Bath.

“He is another exciting rising talent who we look forward to seeing develop and progress even further as he enters senior football in the coming years.”

Eddie Howe addresses Bruno Guimaraes in talk of leaving Newcastle

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe has issued a message of concern to Real Madrid over star midfielder Bruno Guimaraes.

The 24-year-old Brazil international has made a stunning impact in the Premier League since his £35m January arrival at St James’ Park from Lyon, but has been linked with a move to the Spanish capital in recent days if Casemiro heads to Manchester United.

Asked if he could allow Guimaraes to leave, Magpies head coach Howe said: “No, absolutely not.

“We’re trying to build a squad here that we feel can take the club to success over the next few years and we want to build that squad and improve the group, not take away our best players.”
