Leni Klum, Heidi’s daughter, responds to allegations of “nepotism”.

Leni Klum knows she got into modeling more easily than some people. The 18-year-old daughter of Heidi Klum and Seal was honest about how much her parents helped her launch her modeling career.

“It’s just a fact. My parents are famous,” Leni said in an interview published on Oct. 27 when she was questioned about the baby nepotism stereotype. “I had help getting started and I know people would dream of starting with what I had. I am so grateful that I was able to take what was given to me by my mother.”

However, Leni said she does her share, too. “But I do the work and I put in the time,” she said. “Now I work alone, travel alone, go to school. My mom and I just share the same love for the same thing.”

At 12, when she was stopped at a Brandy Melville store, the rising star wanted to follow in her mother’s footsteps.

“They asked me to be a model for their clothes. I was freaking out because Brandi Melville was my crush at the time,” recalls Lenny, “It was the only place I shopped. I said “Mom, mom, guess what? Brandy Melville wants me to model. Please please.’ And she said, “Definitely not.”

She added: “I was really sad about it, but in the end she was right. And I feel like that made me want to model more.” Heidi Klum told E! News in 2021 that Leni had been “begging” her to start modeling for years, and that the supermodel finally gave in.

“Because she’s 16, almost 17, I said, ‘okay,'” the Project Runway alum said. “She opened Berlin Fashion Week.” Lenny was also on the cover of Vogue Germany in 2020 with Heidi, and earlier this month posed for an Intimissimi lingerie ad. Leni always remembers the wise things her parents told her.

“They both taught me to be myself and do what makes me feel comfortable. You can tell you’re not comfortable and then the best of you isn’t brought out,” Lenny shared. “I just think you have to be open and honest about what makes you feel comfortable, being yourself, doing what you love. And if you do all three of those things, then you’re golden.”
