Lahore is ranked as the most polluted city in the world

Lahore: With the return of smog season, Lahore has once again ranked as the world’s most polluted city with an Air Quality Index (AQI) rating ranging between 166 and 279 in different areas of the metropolis, media reported.

The latest data collected through various government and private monitors highlighted that air quality in the provincial capital is the worst in the world, followed by Beijing, Dhaka, Milan, Shenyang, Seattle, Zagreb, Portland, Karachi and Vancouver, Express reported. Tribune.

Live statistics released by the United States air quality monitoring agency IQ Air showed that the worst air pollution was recorded in Kot Lakpat, where the AQI rating hovered around 279.

Air quality in the provincial capital ranged from unhealthy to very unhealthy for humans and animals in various areas, the Express Tribune reported.

On average, the concentration of PM2.5 in Lahore’s air is currently 16.8 times the annual World Health Organization (WHO) air quality guideline, the Express Tribune reported.

Air quality statistics released by the Regional Meteorological Center Lahore show that the prevailing weather conditions indicate that there are chances of accumulation of suspended aerosols in the atmosphere during the next two days, which may lead to poor visibility.

The AQI may also remain in the ‘unhealthy for sensitive group’ range for the Lahore area during the period.
