Kenan Thompson Humiliated Leonardo DiCaprio With Sick Burn During 2022 Emmys Monologue

After an obscure opening number that focused on interpretive dance, Kenan Thompson was actually telling jokes at the 2022 Emmys. Thompson took aim at the weak fortunes of Netflix and Yellow jacketsdrops on Showtime, but he saved his biggest fire for Leonardo DiCaprio and his well-known penchant for only dating women under the age of 25. For this last joke, Thompson stepped in Euphoria star and Best Actress nominee Zendaya.

“Zendaya just turned 26 last week,” Thompson said. “26 is a strange age in Hollywood. I mean, you’re young enough to play a high school student, but you’re too old to date Leonardo DiCaprio. The crowd laughed at the joke as Zendaya put her hands over her head.

Thompson continued to joke Inheritancean all-white cast — “Inheritance is the only show that has three brothers and no brother.” — before you hit how long it will take Only murders in the building stars Steve Martin and Martin Short to reach the stage. (It’s an old age joke. Co-star Selena Gomez sulked and comforted Short, who was sitting next to her.)

Other targets of Thompson’s provocative humor included streaming and premium networks, whose presence has eclipsed the Emmys in recent years.

“Many of the series nominated for best drama were difficult to watch. Strange things it was hard to watch because it was so scary. Squid game it was hard to watch because it was so cruel. And Yellow jackets it was so hard to watch because it was on Showtime.” This latest prank even got jokes from Yellow jackets table.

But Showtime had it easier compared to Netflix, whose falling stock is clearly the talk of the industry right now.

“[Squid Game] is a competition you enter when you are in huge debt and desperate for money. Will you be joining the cast next season? Netflix.” Thompson said through a muffled laugh that he ate.

Later, after praise Abbott Elementary of their choice to donate their campaign funds to schools in need, Thompson quipped, “That’s what it’s all about. It’s about helping those in need. That’s why my entire paycheck from tonight’s show is going straight to Netflix.
