Johnny Depp plays a concert in Washington with his attorneys in the Amber Heard case in the audience

Johnny Depp and guitarist Jeff Beck performed together in concert in Washington, D.C., just over four months after his ex-wife Amber Heard’s defamation trial ended in Virginia.

Depp and Beck released a joint album over the summer. On Tuesday night at The Anthem, they kicked off their US tour, which will run through November and include stops in Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Nashville and other cities. Camille Vasquez and Benjamin Chu, two of his lawyers from the Fairfax, Va., trial, went to the show and posed for photos backstage while wearing VIP passes.

On June 1, the jury mostly agreed with Depp, who is 59 years old, and gave him more than 10 million dollars in damages. They found that Heard, who is 36, lied about him in her 2018 article about domestic violence, even though she did not name him. Heard also won one of her defamation counterclaims and was granted 2 million dollars in damages. Both want to change decisions.

Some of Depp’s die-hard fans, who took to court earlier this year, also came to Tuesday’s rock show. Joan Garcia often went to the court and says the concert felt like a gathering of Johnny Depp fans who met at the court.

“It was great to come here. It felt like a date. I saw so many people from the process. It felt like just family to be with them again. We were together for six weeks. We’ve been through a lot and we’ve seen Johnny go through a lot too,” she says. “And I was so happy to see Camille and Ben and we all felt really close to each other for some reason, a special bond with each other.”

Beck played the first 45 minutes of the show after the first act, Dezure, who told the crowd that he met Johnny Depp at a tattoo parlor. Desure said Depp heard his music at some point and asked him to open for them. He thanked the actor and Beck for letting him join the tour. When Depp came out for the second half of his set, the crowd went wild. The Pirates of the Caribbean actor bowed to the crowd and pointed to Beck. He then walked up to Beck, bowed to him and started playing his guitar.

“I can play with these guys; kind of weird, but amazing,” Depp said after playing his first few songs with Beck. “I want to thank a lot of people that are in this room.” Between songs where he sang lead vocals, Depp didn’t say much else, but that didn’t stop some of his female fans from throwing underwear and bras on stage during the last a song.

Last month, sources confirmed that Depp was meeting with lawyer Joelle Rich, who represented him in his UK defamation case in 2020.

In August, Depp was part of the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards show. His face was digitally added to the Moonman’s helmet in a pre-recorded cameo. Heard’s sister, Whitney Enriquez, spoke out against MTV for letting him appear. She said the organizers were ‘disgusting and clearly desperate’
