Jarrell, a business owner in Texas, remembers the October tornado

JARRELL, Texas (KXAN) — In the wake of Monday night’s EF-1 tornado in the Jarrell area, the owner of Rolling M Trailers said he had to use heavy machinery to remove a gooseneck trailer that the storm’s strong winds blew onto the road.

“The sign was crushed. It was a mess. One was overturned. The others were turned sideways,” said Douglas Meadows, owner of Rolling M Trailers.

He said about eight of his trailers were damaged in the storm, and he thinks insurance will likely cover most of the damage.

He said in his 22 years working at Jarrell, this is the first time his business has been hit by a tornado.

“Hopefully it will be the last time,” Meadows said.

That night, Meadows said a local warden called to say the twister had blown some of his trailers off his property and onto the Interstate 35 access road.

The trailers, now upright and lined up in front of the business, sustained damage such as punctured tire sockets and broken windows.

The front gate along the access road is still crushed. Meadows said it will be a few weeks before they fix the smaller repairs like the gate.
