India reports 5,383 new Covid cases, 20 deaths

New Delhi: India has reported 5,383 new cases of Covid-19 and 20 deaths in the last 24 hours, the Union health ministry said on Friday.

The new deaths took the nationwide death toll to 5,28,449.

Active cases amount to 45,281, which represents 0.10% of the total number of positive cases in the country.

The recovery of 6,424 patients in the last 24 hours took the total to 4,39,84,695. Hence, India’s recovery rate is 98.71 percent.

Meanwhile, the daily and weekly positivity levels stand at 1.68% and 1.70% respectively.

Also during the same period, a total of 3,20,187 tests were conducted across the country, taking the total to over Rs 89.30 crore.

As of Friday morning, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has crossed Rs 217.26 crore.

Over 4.08 crore adolescents have been administered the first dose of Covid-19 since the start of the vaccination campaign for this age group.
