On October 28, 1967, Julia Fiona Roberts was born in Smyrna, Georgia. Her parents, Walter Grady Roberts and Betty Lou Bredemus, met while appearing in military theater productions. They later went on to co-found the Actors and Writers Workshop in Atlanta.
The children of Coretta Scott King and Martin Luther King Jr. attended their children’s acting school in Decatur, Georgia, which they also operated. Roberts moved to Smyrna, Georgia when her parents’ divorce was finalized in the early 1970s.

Roberts signed an endorsement deal with Gianfranco Ferre in 2006 and she received $6 million in compensation. Since 2009, she has been working as an ambassador for the Lancome Paris brand worldwide. In 2010, she signed a five-year contract with Lancome, for which she was paid $50 million.
