Group clash breaks out during Durga idol immersion in Cuttack

Cuttack: A clash between two groups broke out during the Durga idol immersion in which both groups pelted stones at each other near Badambadi area on Cuttack tonight.

According to sources, the clash took place between Kusunpur and Bhagabatpur members from Cuttack.

Both sides have reportedly had issues with turf in the past.

Today, however, during the idol procession, the two sides quarreled and soon the situation led to a heated atmosphere.

As a result, a clash broke out between the two groups. In addition, both sides attacked each other by pelting stones.

Soon the commissariat police swung into action and took control of the situation.

A platoon of police force has been deployed at the spot and the situation is under control, informed Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Pinak Mishra.

It is to be noted that in a similar incident of gang clash on September 18, five people sustained critical injuries out of a total of ten people injured due to a gang clash in Odisha’s Bhadrak district. The incident took place at Ramapalli village under Chandbali police limits in the district. Later, the police arrived at the scene and calmed down the participants in the fight.
