Furious staff instructor Mark ‘Billy’ Billingham was forced to intervene as he shouted ‘brake, brake, brake’ and pulled Callum’s rope.

“Your brake was too late, that’s a fact,” scolded Billy Fern after Callum had safely reached the ground.

“This could have gone terribly wrong, couldn’t it?”

Fern broke down in tears at the late blunder as Billy told her: ‘He’s here, isn’t he? So you owe him damn it.

“Now get a hold of yourself. Think about what you have done and make amends.”

Head instructor Rudy Reyes stepped in to calm Fern down, reassuring her, “You saved his life, it’s okay.”

Callum also pulled Fern aside and comforted her as she was devastated by what had happened.

“You didn’t fail, you damn well made it,” Calum told her.

“I’m proud of you. Don’t beat yourself up.”

Also on last night’s drama show, Fern’s Towie co-star Pete Weeks was forced to withdraw after being knocked unconscious in a brutal challenge.

The 33-year-old Towie favorite broke his ribs after falling into the sea off the coast of Jordan from a helicopter alongside Ashley Kane.

Pete was left dazed and confused after smashing into his bag on impact.

Despite regaining consciousness in time to swim to shore, the reality star was unable to continue.

He said: “I really thought this would be the challenge for me to show what the hell I’ve got. And I was wrong, very wrong. I think my foot got caught in the sack a little bit and I fell right on top of it and knocked myself out and broke my ribs.”

Before the terrifying jump, Pitt said he wasn’t nervous and believed his strong swimming skills would see him through.

But after the terrifying ordeal, Pitt was forced to drop out of the competition.

However, he may get another chance to prove himself in future series as he is more than willing to try everything again after feeling like a ‘failure’.

“One hundred percent, without a shadow of a doubt, I would do it tomorrow if they gave me another chance on the course,” Pitt said.

“I feel like I have unfinished business and I’ve failed as far as I’m concerned. I want to fix this. It was something that would really haunt me. I think there are so many things going on in this show that would benefit me as a person.

“Everyone who has been in it has said they came out a changed person. I think that’s the thing I’m saddest about – that I didn’t get the chance to do that as well. I really felt like I was starting, after only a few days, to understand a little more about myself and why I am the way I am. I think that’s what I missed.

“I really think the course would have changed my life. So leaving the way I did made me pretty angry. It leaves more than a bitter taste in my mouth, I am truly gutted.”
