Rayagada: Trinath Bauri, former Headmaster of Project UP School in Burtinguda, Rayagada district and currently appointed Headmaster of Govt. Gunthuli High School was convicted today in a Vigilance trap case.
It is to be noted here that Bauri has been charged by Odisha Vigilance in Koraput Vigilance PS Case No.40 dated 06.08.2015 U/s 7/13(2) r/w 13(1)(d) Act Prevention of Corruption, 1988 for soliciting and accepting an illegal remuneration (bribe) from the complainant to facilitate the admission of his son to the accommodation. Today, the Special Judge, Vigilance in Jeypore convicted Bauri.
Apart from convicting Bauri, the court sentenced him to undergo rigorous imprisonment for a period of 2 years and to pay a fine of Rs 5,000 on each charge and in default of payment of the fine to undergo further rigorous imprisonment for a period of 3 months on each count for the offense U/s 7 PC Act, 1988 & U/s 13 (2) r/w 13(1)(d) Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988. Both sentences are to run concurrently. Odisha Vigilance will now move the competent authority to discharge Sri Bauri from service after his conviction.
