Verdict of the film
Chup has a lot of elements in the movie that will keep you looking right through to the end. The motive behind the serial killings and the main character’s emotional breakdown are written and executed very well on screen. The film adapted a non-linear script that will have audiences scratching their heads to understand what will happen next. Although the narrative seems slower throughout the film, the making and scenes related to the murder and investigation make it interesting to watch. Even the love scenes between the main couple feel like fresh rather than the very old and boring stories being shown on screen these days. The climax of the film may surprise you, as it may be unexpected.
While it comes to acting, Dulquer Salmaan is one of the best actors of the current generation in all languages in India. He looks so simple in this movie and he did a great job playing him. He is happy to see Sunny Deol on screen with the character that suits him perfectly and the actor has done a good job. Shreya Dhanwantary is beautiful and did the part of her well, even though she had limited screen presence. Pooja Bhatt and all the other actors did their part as required for the story.
Technically, Chup’s film is very good. The songs composed by Amit Trivedi, Sneha Khanwalkar, Aman Pant are good and the soundtrack is the most important highlight of the film. Vishal Sinha did a good job as a director of photography, with some bright shots and colors used that suit the mood of the film. The modification looks perfect.
Director R Balki is one of the directors of the Hindi film industry, who has decent filmography as a writer and director. All the films directed by R Balki are a minimum guarantee film and Chup is another success in his career as a director. He made a well-written and executed thriller, even though he managed the thriller for the first time.
Overall, Chup is a perfect crime thriller that can be seen in theaters for some brilliant performances and accomplishments.
