Doctors transport a living heart through the green corridor of the Hyderabad Metro

A panel of doctors transported a live heart through the green corridor of the Hyderabad Metro around 2 am and reached the destination in just 25 minutes to save a life on Monday.

A team of doctors and medical staff from Kamineni Hospital in LB Nagar transported the living heart in a special train from Nagole Metro Station to Jubilee Hills Check Post Metro Station where the Apollo Hospital ambulance was waiting to receive the living organ.

The distance between Kamineni Hospital and Appolo Hospital is around 32 kilometers and takes around 45 minutes if traveling by road. However, it took only 25 minutes to reach the beating heart as the Hyderabad Metro Rail (HMR) created the green corridor and facilitated the transportation of the living heart. The entire mission has been entrusted to officials of Corridor 3 (Blue Line between Nagole and Raidurg), a media report said.

“Hyderabad Metro is committed to serving its passengers and is always ready to go the extra mile if assistance is required. This We have activated Green channel for fastest possible time to transport collected heart to save precious life. My sincere gratitude goes to every doctor and staff member of HMR who ensured this safe and hassle-free transport of the living organ,” thetatvaindia quoted KVB Reddy, MD and CEO of L&TMRHL as saying.

This is the second time that the Hyderabad Metro has made special arrangements to transport a donor heart. It had earlier taken all necessary steps after receiving an SOS call from Apollo Hospital, Jubilee Hills to transport a living donor heart in February 2021.
