Delhi: Woman arrested for cheating neighbors of ₹1 crore at kitty parties

A woman was arrested for cheating on her neighbors 1 crore by managing a kitten in the nation’s capital and involving it to invest the money to get high returns in a short time, Delhi police quoted ANI news agency.

Police said the defendant was identified as Sarla Garg (52), a resident of Dwarka in Delhi who used to organize cat parties in her company. The woman had cheated on more than 25 people at cat parties.

A lawsuit was filed against the defendant under Sections 406, 420, 120 (b) and 34 of the Indian Penal Code on a joint complaint of 28 people.

According to the complaint, the defendant used to run a kitten scheme from his home and raise around Rs. 1.01 million victims.

“She promised to pay back the maturity amount within 15 months, but even after the maturity period, she did not repay the principal amount or give any benefit to the investors. After a few months, Sarla returned to her family. She left. her address and moved to another unknown location, “said the victims, as quoted by ANI.

The victims claimed that the defendant used her WhatsApp phone number to chat with the victims and send messages on the prize pool. She unanimously said that the woman took him money in the kitten’s name and promised good earnings through profitable schemes. Some of the complainants provided screenshots of WhatsApp chats to the police.

Police said: “He made friendly relations with the victims in a short time and started running the chat from his home. He motivated the victims, who lived in the same company, and raised money.

The police officer said Mohammad Shoaib used to extort money from victims on behalf of the accused.
