DCP Prateek Singh conducts press meet, clears the air

Bhubaneswar: Amid intense confusion over the alleged progress of an ongoing probe pertaining to woman blackmailer Archana Nag case, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP)-Bhubaneswar Prateek Singh today conducted a press meet and cleared the air surrounding the high-profile crime.

Briefing mediapersons at a presser held here, the DCP Singh said that a girl previously filed an FIR with Khandagiri police on October 2, which lead to the arrest of woman blackmailer Archana.

Archana had earlier captured a few photographs of the complainant’s intimate moments by making friendship with the latter. Subsequently, the accused woman started blackmailing her.

According to the FIR, Archana compelled the victim girl to get closer to a producer of Odia films, warning the girl that her photographs will be made public, in case she refuses to act as instructed.

Khandagiri police station IIC is the investigating officer (IO) in the case. Probe team has been trying to find out involvement of any other person in the case, if any. Gadgets like mobile phone, tablet and DVS, including bank passbook and few other important documents seized by the police have already been sent to State Forensic Science Laboratory (SFSL) in Bhubaneswar, the DCP Singh expressed.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) headquarters in the Capital City has been asked to provide the details of financial transactions carried out by Archana and companies owned by the accused woman.

As the husband of Archana named Jagabandhu Chand is not keeping well these days, he will be quizzed after the man recovers. Probe team has been trying to unravel all assets associated with the husband-wife duo. If required, the arrested will be brought on remand for further interrogation.

Archana has two cases presently pending against her with Khandagiri and Nayapalli police. If any cases are pending in any other police stations will also be probed together, the DCP Singh added.
