Cyclonic circulation may form over Bay of Bengal around 4 November 2022

Bhubaneswar: A cyclonic circulation may form over southeast Bay of Bengal near north Sumatra around November 4, said weather expert Surendranath Pasupalak.

The system may persist over the same region for 2-3 days. There might be delay in the intensification of the system due to its presence near the equator, he said.

It might move in the northwest direction and become a low pressure area around November 7. Some models indicate that the system might affect the east coast of the country, said Pasupalak.

However, a clear picture regarding its intensification and path will emerge after formation of low pressure area, he added.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis issued on October 27 had said that there is likelihood of formation of a cyclonic circulation over Andaman Sea and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal during the later park of ‘week 2’ (November 4 to November 10).
