Cook with Deepa: Sabudana Vada Recipe

By Deepa Mishra

During festivals like Dussehra and Diwali, people perform many religious activities, especially during Navratri days. It includes diet clothing. This year’s Durga Puja is significant as people got a chance to engage in the puja after a gap of two years as the puja was stopped after the pandemic.

Nowadays many people choose pure vegetarian food even without garlic and onion. To stay healthy, they consume a lot of fruits, juices, kuttu ka atta, sabudana and potatoes as an alternative to regular meals. Personally, I feel that with proper masalas and ingredients, these foods can be tastier than non-vegetarian foods. These are comfort foods with many health benefits, such as improving digestion, strengthening muscles and improving heart function. In addition, such foods are naturally gluten-free and rich in antioxidants.

Sabudana Bada is an ideal food to have during Navratri because it is vegetarian, healthy and delicious.

Here is the recipe for making sabudana bada:

ingredients-

1. Sabudana-1 cup

2. Boiled potatoes-2 pcs

3. Ginger garlic crushed – 1 tablespoon

4. Sabut jera-1 tbsp

5. Chopped fresh coriander – A little

6. Dish powder-1 tbsp

7. Cumin powder-1 tbsp

8. Chopped green chilies-1 tbsp

9. Lemon juice-1 tablespoon

10-Salt to taste

11. Table masala-1 tbsp

Preparation method –

First take the sabudana, wash it 2 to 3 times and release all the starch. Sprinkle some water on it and let it soak for 3 to 4 hours. After 4 hours take it in a big bowl put all the masalas and potatoes and mix well so that it comes together well to make badas easier. Now let the mixture sit for 30 minutes. Heat oil in a kadahi. Make badas from the prepared mixture and fry the gills until golden brown. Sprinkle some masala and the hot mouth-watering badas are ready to serve.

You can drink it with green lutenica or hot tea / coffee of your choice. Make it at home and earn appreciation. Email me for any suggestions or questions about this recipe.
