Candice LeRae makes a shocking return to WWE as Johnny Gargano’s wife debuts on Raw
The WWE returns keep on coming – Candice LeRae is officially returning to the company.
The former NXT Women’s Tag Team Champion left the company in May following the departure of her husband Johnny Gargano in December 2021, and now she’s making her debut on Raw weeks after her man also entered the fold.
Fans were amazed on Monday night when Candice’s music hit and she came out to face Nikki ASH in singles action – her first match since July 2021, when she and Indi Hartwell lost their titles to Io Shirai and Zoey Stark.
She gave birth to her and Johnny’s baby boy, Quill, in February, and now both parents are back in WWE making waves on the main roster.
Candice made quick work of Nikki, eliminating her in less than two minutes before celebrating in front of a packed crowd.
In an interesting aside, her opponent looked distraught after the shock loss and even took off her ‘Almost Superhero’ mask as she sat in the corner of the ring, hinting at a character change in the future.
Although Candace has yet to publicly comment on her return, husband Johnny shared an adorable family photo of himself in the ring with his wife helping little Quill onto the apron.
He teased, “Okay.. maybe Quill hasn’t been my training partner for the past month. Welcome back @CandiceLeRae (sic)’
He quickly added, “Oh, no. I wrote “ony” instead of “only” and now this tweet is too far away to repeat and that’s all my ocd will see. I was in a hurry in gorilla. Forgive me!’
We’ll forgive him, given all the excitement.
Gargano also had a big night on Raw as he teamed with Kevin Owens and defeated the Alpha Academy duo of Chad Gable and Otis despite the best efforts of his on-screen rival Austin Theory.
The two former stars who teamed up on The Way are currently embroiled in an entertaining on-screen feud, and Candice’s return means three-quarters of their NXT family is now on Raw.
It would be great to see Indy also make the move and complete the set, and Gargano was full of praise for the idea.
Speaking on Out of Character with Ryan Satin, he said: “I think it’s about time [she joins the WWE main roster]. Indy has been ready for a long time. Indy is incredibly talented. Whenever you look at Indy when that light goes on, she just has something about her.
“I can’t describe my number, we could never put our finger on it. She just has that – they talk about ‘it’ a lot, this magical ‘it’ thing over there. I don’t know what it is, but when you see it on camera, you’re like, “Oh, there it is.”
“Indy just has that thing about her. She is incredibly funny and incredibly funny. For my money, she’s the complete package. I think she’s definitely ready for bigger and better things.
WWE Raw airs Monday night at 1am on BT Sport 1.
