ASL interpreters return to Austin City Limits

AUSTIN (KXAN) – American Sign Language Interpreters have been a part of the Austin City Limits Music Festival for several years, and 2022 was no different.

This year, Austin-based Amber G Productions provided ASL interpreting services and staff. According to ACL organizer C3, 2022 is the second year the supplier translates to ACL.

“Since 2014, Amber G Productions has had sign language interpreters who specialize in musical performances,” said a C3 spokesperson. “They use a mixture of local talent and external talent to try to ensure the greatest equality of experience with local authors and highly skilled interpreters from different backgrounds and cultures.”

ACL organizers said 14 ASL interpreters are working at ACL this year.

“ASL interpreters include Deaf and BIPOC interpreters, making for a truly diverse team,” organizers said.

C3 said it is also partnering with the Deaf Professional Artists Network (D-PAN) to capture and promote ASL Interpreted Services on-site at ACL Fest with the Deaf/HOH community to encourage more of the community to come to the festival.

The online schedule includes the ASL icon to show all broadcasts are interpreted.
