Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict erupts as US warns Russia not to ‘stir the pot’

A truce between Armenia and Azerbaijan was observed for just 15 minutes on Tuesday morning before decades of hostilities between the two countries resumed, with fresh clashes that left at least 49 soldiers dead.

The cost of the renewed conflict is likely to be higher, as only Armenia has reported a death toll on its side following clashes with Azerbaijan over the disputed territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan also acknowledged casualties on its side, but did not give details.
