Lactose is a type of sugar found in the composition of milk and other types of dairy products. The body needs the lactase enzyme during breastfeeding to easily digest breast milk. However, it stops producing it once a person stops breastfeeding.

About 70% of Peruvians are lactose intolerant, as the body rejects milk of another species and this is reflected in physical symptoms such as abdominal cramps, diarrhea or vomiting.

It is advisable to replace the consumption of milk of animal origin with those of vegetable origin, as they contain different nutrients that complement the diet without neglecting the health of the stomach. Silvia RodriguezNutritionist from Healthy Pleasure Blog, recommends 5 types of plant-based milk that you can include in your meals:

It is a drink capable of providing minerals such as potassium and magnesium. These nutrients help strengthen the immune system and prevent cramps. It is recommended to consume it for breakfast with cereals, smoothies or accompanied by chopped fruit.
