Apple’s iPhone hardware subscription in active testing

According to Bloomberg News’ Mark Gurman, Apple is “actively testing” and an iPhone subscription package that combines hardware and services such as those included in Apple One.

The professional camera system on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max further enhances computational photography with the introduction of the Photonic Engine, improving low to medium light performance across all cameras through deep integration of hardware and software.

Malcolm Owen for Apple Insider:

Apple is alleged to be “actively testing” the service, according to Mark Gurman’s “Power On” newsletter for Bloomberg on Sunday. During testing, Gurman says he still expects it “to launch later this year or next year”.

The proposed subscription was not announced or mentioned at the iPhone event in order to “reduce the complexity of the launch day”, as it would be a “completely new way to buy an iPhone”.

Given the expectation of an October event for iPad and Mac launches, there could be a high probability that Apple could use that presentation as the venue for a subscription launch.

As we wrote in 2019, ahead of the Apple One launch on October 30, 2020, here and here:

$ 99 a month gives you an iPhone and all Apple services. Presented like this, it would be insanely irresistible. And every “new to iPhone” customer will be immediately and irrevocably immersed in Apple’s Hotel California ecosystem … We bet if Apple offered iPhones along with bundled services in one monthly fee – offer checkboxes for Apple TV +, Apple News +, Apple Arcade, Apple Music, iCloud Storage, etc .: they would have a winning sales strategy (Apple Prime) in their hands!
