Reuters:

The share of the most expensive iPhone 14 Pro series has increased to 60% of total production from the 50% initially planned and could rise to 65% in the future, the report said.

Apple’s focus on high-end models could help it counter the softness in smartphone sales. In the midst of the chip crisis, Apple’s premium-tier Pro and Pro Max devices, which have been strong sellers, have helped the company push margins higher.

Analysts in the past have said that the Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 14 were selling at a brisk pace … Apple was the only supplier in the top five to record shipments growth in the third quarter, bringing its share in the global smartphone market at 18% from 15% a year ago, according to research firm Canalys. The increase in share came as the overall smartphone market shrank by 9%, Canalys said.

MacDailyNews takes: Again, this is simply Apple’s mix setup. It happens every single year several times a year. This time around it’s premium Pro models at higher prices, which is obviously great news for Apple’s iPhone ASP and iPhone revenue.

When you’re thinking of spending $ 899 – $ 1199 for an iPhone Plus, you might as well upgrade to Pro.

All of this is proceeding as expected from our rather flawless crystal ball:

Apple should have done this earlier, but it’s nice to see further differentiation between entry-level and “Pro” iPhones which, of course, will skew more buyers towards iPhone Pro models, while boosting Apple’s iPhone ASP. The planned removal of the elegant kludge (notch) in favor of a more refined pill-and-perforation design exclusively in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max will also help differentiate Pro models from non-Pro iPhones later this year, moving the mix towards high-end iPhones. – MacDailyNews, July 6, 2022

The Apple iPhone mix will easily be the strongest ever. Don’t be surprised by reports that Apple has “cut iPhone 14 orders,” aka iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus. The company will likely increase iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max orders to reflect the strong mix that bodes well. obviously for the average selling price of Apple’s iPhone (ASP). – MacDailyNews, September 14, 2022
