Canalys’ latest smartphone estimates show that mainland China’s smartphone market in Q3 2022 declined 11% year-on-year, while Apple’s iPhone experienced a remarkable 36% growth in the country.

“Apple experienced strong growth in mainland China in the third quarter,” said Canalys analyst Amber Liu. “Its annual launch is highly anticipated by consumers and channels and strong demand for the iPhone 14 Pro series has contributed to Apple’s overall performance.”
“The mainland China market will either stay flat or see small growth in 2023, which is still a much lower level than in 2021 or pre-pandemic as demand is likely not to improve until the end of next year. The next fourth quarter performance will be led by Apple with wholesale shipments of new iPhones and the e-commerce shopping festival, ”Canalys analyst Toby Zhu said in a statement.
