ANDA inspects wastewater and drinking water treatment plant in Cuscatancingo

The president of the National Administration of Aqueducts and Sewers (ANDA), Rubén Alemán, carried out a technical inspection at the wastewater treatment plant located in Ciudad Futura, in Cuscatancingo, San Salvador, as part of the strategies outlined in National Water Plan.

“We are at the Ciudad Futura wastewater treatment plant in Cuscatancingo, where we have inspected each treatment unit. We checked the quality of the drain before reaching the receiving water body, ”said Alemán.

Through its wastewater treatment plants, ANDA prevents the contamination of rivers and streams and, in this specific case, the wastewater from homes in Ciudad Futura and surrounding areas is treated, benefiting over 15,000 users. .

Alemán explained that a project is underway to power the drinking water pumping plant with energy from methane, which is adjacent to the wastewater plant.

“The good news does not end with ANDA, we are looking for funding to sponsor a project that will transform methane into energy and will be able to supply the drinking water plant, which is on par”, the official noted.

According to the president of the autonomous community, about $ 200,000 per year is spent on electricity for the optimal operation of the drinking water system, so this project would significantly reduce these expenses.
