Airtel launches 5G Plus in 8 cities, no SIM change required

Bharti Airtel on Thursday launched 5G Plus services in eight cities and users will not have to change the SIM card as Airtel’s existing 4G SIM card is already 5G enabled.

Customers in Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Siliguri, Nagpur and Varanasi will start enjoying Airtel 5G Plus services in a phased manner, the company said, as it continues to build out its network and complete the rollout.

The company promises between 20 to 30 times faster speeds than the current speed, coupled with a brilliant voice experience and super-fast call connection.

Customers who have 5G smartphones will enjoy high-speed Airtel 5G Plus on their existing data plans until the rollout becomes more widespread.

“Our solution will work on any 5G phone and existing SIM card that customers have. Our obsession with user experience is now embellished with a 5G solution that is more environmentally friendly,” said Gopal Vithal, Managing Director and CEO, Bharti Airtel.

“Airtel 5G Plus is poised to redefine the way people communicate, live, work, connect and play for years to come,” added Vital.

Airtel 5G Plus runs on technology that has the widest adoption in the world with the most developed ecosystem.

This will ensure that all 5G smartphones in India work seamlessly on Airtel’s network.

Airtel 5G Plus will enable super fast access to high definition video streaming, gaming, multi-chat, instant photo upload and much more.

Last week, Bharti Airtel showcased a 5G-connected ambulance to transform primary healthcare in emergencies, along with smart agriculture solutions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the country’s official 5G launch.
