Mayurbhanj: A speeding truck falls off a bridge under construction, killing the driver Jarpokharia near Bombay Square here in Odisha today.
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established.
According to reports, the truck was coming from Kolkata. Meanwhile, she headed in the wrong direction towards the bridge under construction. Seeing the wrongly approaching truck, those present at the scene waved their hands and signaled the driver to stop.
However, the efforts were in vain as the truck driver failed to take breaks in time due to his speed and reportedly fell off the bridge.
Local people soon reached the truck, rescued the driver and sent him to a hospital for treatment in a critical condition. However, he was declared dead by the doctors.
An atmosphere of tension was created at the place after the incident and the negligence of the administration in not barricading the overbridge under construction.
