Bargar: A huge python was rescued from Bargan village in Odisha’s Bargarh district on Thursday. The python is said to be 9 feet long and weigh 25 kg.
According to reports, a farmer was applying pesticide in his paddy field today when he unknowingly stepped on the python. Reacting above him, the long python entangled itself in the man’s leg. Frightened by this, the farmer raised an alarm for help and soon several people rushed to the spot to rescue him.
As the man was ensnared by the snake, the locals hit the snake’s head lightly and accordingly the man was freed from the snake’s grip.
The locals later called members of the Snake Helpline and rescued the python. It was then taken to the vet in Bargar. After preliminary treatment, the veterinary hospital officials reportedly shifted the python to the Odisha Veterinary College in Bhubaneswar for advanced treatment.
The vet said the python was 9 feet long and weighed 25 kg.
