67 students from a school in Krishnagiri are recovering in hospital

Chennai: All 67 students of a Corporation High School in Krishnagiri, Tamil Nadu, who were admitted to a government hospital in Hosur, are recovering, hospital authorities said on Saturday.

About 100 students complained of concern after a suspected gas leak from a septic tank in the school building on Friday afternoon. The children, according to hospital authorities, developed nausea and vomiting.

Of these, 67 students who showed severe symptoms of vomiting and nausea were admitted to the Hosur government hospital and given intravenous fluids and medication.

Hospital authorities and pollution control board officials are ascertaining the cause of the children’s anxiety. Blood and vomit samples are tested to determine the cause.

Krishnagiri District Collector V. Jayachandra Bhanu Reddy told the media that the children are recuperating at the Hosur Government Hospital.
