Cuttack: Four nurses who were on shift on the day a newborn baby girl was allegedly stolen from the Special Neonatal Care Unit (SNCU) of SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack are being served with a show cause notice on Monday

A woman from Chandanpur in Puri reportedly gave birth to twins at the main government hospital. But one of the twins developed jaundice after which the baby was shifted to SNCU for treatment from where it was allegedly stolen.

” Today at 12 o’clock one of the newborn girls was taken to the intensive care unit to provide light as she was suffering from jaundice. When I went for admission and gave the pass to the security. He reported that the child was taken back and then disappeared,” said father Tofan Jena.

After complaints, the authorities of the Central Security Service scan the recordings from the video surveillance cameras.

The girl’s parents filed a complaint about the entire incident at the Medical Police station in the Central Bank. Following a tip-off, the police started an investigation into the case.
