Genesis will launch its flagship electrified G80 electric sedan in Australia in September, with only one highly specified variant available.
The 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 is only available with a twin-engine powertrain and the standard luxury package and is priced at $ 145,000 before road tolls.
That’s over $ 30,000 more than the G80 3.5T with the optional luxury package.
The Genesis Electrifed G80 is powered exclusively by a dual electric motor configuration that produces total system outputs of 272kW of power and 700Nm of torque.
Genesis claims the electrified G80 can accelerate from 0 to 100km / h in 4.9 seconds.
It has an 87.2 kWh battery with a claimed range of up to 520km on the most rigorous WLTP cycle.
The electrified G80 has an 800V electrical architecture with a maximum DC fast charge rate of 350kW and also features a Vehicle Charging (V2L) function that allows owners to connect electrical devices at a maximum power of 3, 6 kW.
Customers who purchase an electrified G80 also have the option of a free five-year Chargefox subscription or a free home AC charger with free installation.
Some key differences between the Genesis Electrified G80 and the 3.5T with the optional Luxury package include a sunroof instead of a panoramic glass roof, a heat pump system, unique front and rear bumpers, and unique 19-inch alloy wheels, among others.
The Genesis Electrified G80 is one of three electric vehicles (EVs) that the South Korean luxury carmaker plans to launch locally in September.
The Genesis GV60 shares its dedicated E-GMP architecture with Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Kia EV6, while the Genesis Electrified GV70 is an all-electric version of the brand’s midsize SUV.
When the electrified G80 launches in Australia, it will rival the Mercedes-Benz EQE and Audi e-tron GT, as well as the updated Tesla Model S once introduced.

The 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 is equipped with an 87.2 kWh battery and has a claimed range of 520 km according to WLTP tests.
Genesis has yet to detail the claimed power consumption for the electrified G80.
It has an 800V electric architecture and a maximum DC fast charging rate of 350kW, and Genesis claims it can be charged from 10 to 80% in just 22 minutes.
The electric sedan also has an external Vehicle-to-charge (V2L) feature that allows customers to connect electrical devices up to 3.6 kW wherever they want.
The electrified G80 features a ‘Disconnect Actuator System’ (DAS) that allows the car to switch between rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive to maximize efficiency.
Dimensions
Although Genesis has not detailed the external dimensions of the electrified G80, the gas-powered G80 is 4995mm long, 1925mm wide and 1465mm tall, with a wheelbase of 3010mm.
It has a 354 liter boot, which is 70 liters smaller than the boot of the regular G80 models.
Maintenance and warranty
The 2023 Genesis Electrified G80 is backed by a five-year unlimited mileage warranty.
Five years of maintenance is free and Genesis will pick up your car at the time of maintenance.
There is also 10 years of free roadside assistance, and buyers can choose between five years of free charging with Chargefox or a free charger and installation at home.
Safety
While the four-cylinder Genesis G80 models have a five-star ANCAP safety rating based on Euro NCAP testing, the electrified G80 remains unrated.
The gasoline-powered G80 scored 91% for adult occupant protection, 86% for child occupant protection, 77% for vulnerable road users and 80% for safety assistance.
