Jaipur: In a tragic incident, at least two women were killed in a road accident that took place in Odisha’s Jaipur district on Sunday. The accident took place near Chatia on National Highway No. 16.
The deceased women have been identified as Gitarani Padhi and Sasmita Padhi from Bhubaneswar.
According to reports, the women were traveling in a car from Bhubaneswar to Chandihol to have darshan of Goddess Biraja. Near Chatia, the car was parked on the road for the passengers to have breakfast.
It is reported that since the driver did not apply a manual break to the vehicle, after some time the car automatically drove off without a driver.
Panicked by this, the two women who were on board the vehicle at the time jumped from the car on the road to save their lives. However, they were mowed down by a fast truck coming from behind. Accordingly, both women were killed on the spot.
After receiving information, Bairi police rushed to the spot and sent the bodies for post-mortem. Further investigation is underway into the matter.
