2 killed, 6 injured after stabbing on Las Vegas Strip, police say

2 killed, 6 injured after stabbing on Las Vegas Strip: Two people were killed and six others were wounded in a stabbing on the Las Vegas Strip by an assailant wielding a large kitchen knife, authorities said, and he was later taken into custody Thursday.

According to Las Vegas police, who said they began receiving 911 reports of stabbings at 11:40 a.m. near the north end of the Strip, three people were hospitalized in critical condition and three others were in stable condition.

Police did not immediately provide details about the suspect or a potential motive. Multiple stabbings were reported, and witnesses told Las Vegas television stations that some of the victims appeared to be girls posing for pictures with tourists on the Strip.

According to a woman who spoke to KTNV, the suspect pretended to be a chef and asked to take pictures with several of the showgirls while holding a knife. However, after the group refused, the man began stabbing the victims.

Los Angeles Times said the incident happened near the Wynn Hotel and Casino. Pierre Fandrich told KTNV that while he was walking the strip, he didn’t notice the stabbing suspect. However, he said he believed he had heard “three or four show girls laughing,” even though he was actually screaming.

As one woman rushed across a footbridge, another lay on the ground and a third tried to help the fallen woman, Fandrich reported seeing “lots of blood”. Because there was so much blood on the ground, Fandrich also informed KTNV that he believed one of the victims had fallen from the bridge.

As they searched for other victims, police warned the public to stay away from the area. Police briefly withheld the identity of the suspect.
